Mötley Crüe frontman Vince Neil addressed the aviation tragedy involving his private jet in Scottsdale, Arizona, on Monday (February 10). The accident instantly killed the pilot and left his girlfriend, Rain Andreani, and one of her friends injured.
According to Daily Mail, the aircraft veered off the runway and crashed into a parked jet at 2:39 p.m. after the "left main gear failed upon landing." A spokesperson for the "Home Sweet Home" hitmaker assured that the musician's "thoughts and prayers go out to everyone involved," adding that he is "grateful for the critical aid of all first responders" who promptly arrived at the crash site.
Scottsdale Fire Department Captain Dave Folio provided more details following the incident, saying that five patients were treated.
"We had five patients we treated. One was a fatality, we had two immediate that were transported to local trauma centers, we had one delayed patient and one patient that refused treatment." Daily Mail mentioned that all flights to and from the airport were halted as the incident was investigated by the Federal Aviation Administration.
Mötley Crüe also reposted an update from Neil's lawyer about the fatal crash that reads,
"For reasons unknown at this time, the plane veered from the runway causing it to collide with another parked plane. On board Mr. Neil’s plane were two pilots and two passengers. Mr. Neil was not on the plane. More specific details regarding the collision are not available as this is a rapidly evolving situation and there is an ongoing investigation."
The band plans to release another statement soon, addressing how to help support the deceased pilot's family.
Andreani is currently undergoing treatment for five broken ribs. Neither she nor her friend sustained life-threatening injuries as a result of the crash. A few dogs were also onboard the plane and remained unharmed.
