Mötley Crüe frontman Vince Neil’s private Learjet 35A crashed into a Gulfstream 200 at Scottsdale Municipal Airport, resulting in one death and multiple injuries.
At a news conference, officials said it appeared that the left main landing gear of the plane failed on landing, causing it to hit a Gulfstream 200 business jet that was parked on private property. A post to social media by Motley Crue said the person killed was the pilot, but that post was taken down and replaced with a statement that didn’t identify any of the passengers.
Neil wasn’t on board the plane, but his girlfriend Rain and her friend Ashley were aboard at the time of the crash.
Allen Kovac, the band’s manager, told “TMZ” that Rain broke five ribs in the collision, but that both she and Ashley were safe.
Kovac also said the band is brainstorming ideas for how to help the families of the victims. The National Transportation Safety Board is now in charge of the investigation.
